Auto Hauler Supplies: Car Tie-Down Straps and Kits
Auto haulers need at least two tiedowns at the front and rear of every vehicle (49 CFR §393.128). GO-TOW.COM stocks over-wheel, lasso, axle and 8-point DiamondWeave straps, each with a WLL tag.
Open and enclosed car haulers, dealer transport and auction hauling all share one securement rule: restrain the vehicle at the front and rear with at least two tiedowns (49 CFR §393.128). Strap choice comes down to vehicle type, trailer deck and how often you load.
Strap types and what they are for
Straps sold by GO-TOW.COM are compliant with 49 CFR Part 393. FMCSA does not issue approval stamps for individual straps, so check the WLL tag and the strap condition before every trip. See the
DOT and FMCSA Cargo Securement FAQ for inspection timing.

Frequently asked questions
How many tiedowns does a car need on a hauler?
At least two, restraining the vehicle at the front and rear against lateral, forward, rearward and vertical movement (
49 CFR §393.128). Many haulers tie down all four wheels. That is a practice choice, and two is the legal floor.
Which strap type should I use: axle, over-wheel or lasso?
Over-wheel and lasso straps go around or over the tire. Axle straps loop around an axle or frame point and connect to a ratchet or chain. Which one fits depends on the vehicle and your trailer. Our
Auto Hauling Strap Buying Guide compares the types.
What WLL do your auto hauling straps have?
Over-wheel 3-point straps are rated 2,000 lb WLL. Lasso straps, single-unit ratchet wheel straps, 8-point kits and 14 ft DiamondWeave straps are rated 3,333 lb WLL. Each strap carries a WLL tag.
What is DiamondWeave?
DiamondWeave is a patented webbing construction (U.S. Patent 8,136,555) made in the USA by Ribbon Webbing Corp. (RWC). GO-TOW.COM sells straps made with it. RWC describes its abrasion resistance as excellent compared with standard webbing.
