4" Standard Handle Ratchet — Up to 8,000 lb. WLL | 4R

The 4-inch ratchet is the largest hand-operated ratchet commonly available for cargo securement. It is designed for use with 4-inch webbing assemblies in applications where 2-inch strap systems are not sufficient for the load or the tie-down method required. Common applications include flatbed trucking, heavy equipment transport, oilfield supply, and specialized hauling where 4-inch strap end fittings — flat hooks, wire hooks, D-rings, and chain extensions with grab hooks — are the specified configuration.

The extruded aluminum handle is strong, lightweight, non-corrosive, non-magnetic, non-combustible, and recyclable. The yellow dichromate zinc plating provides rust-inhibiting protection on the ratchet body for use in open-deck and outdoor storage conditions.

The 4-inch ratchet is commonly specified for heavy-hauling applications. Confirm that the complete securement assembly — webbing, end fittings, anchor points, and ratchet — is appropriately rated for the cargo weight, transport method, and applicable requirements. Strap end fittings are sold separately.

Compatibility & Safety: The usable Working Load Limit of a complete securement system is determined by the lowest-rated component in that assembly. A ratchet rated to 8,000 lb. does not establish the aggregate system capacity — that is determined by the weakest link in webbing, fittings, anchor, and ratchet. Select all components to appropriate ratings for your application and comply with applicable cargo-securement requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What webbing width does this ratchet accept?

The 4R is designed for 4-inch webbing. It is not compatible with 2-inch straps. Confirm that the 4-inch strap assembly — webbing, end fittings, and anchor points — is rated and compatible for your specific application before use.

What end fittings are available for 4-inch ratchet straps?

4-inch ratchet straps are commonly available with flat hooks, wire hooks, D-rings, and chain extensions with grab hooks. The ratchet hardware and the strap assembly are generally sold separately. Select end fittings based on the anchor points and cargo configuration for your specific application. Verify that end fitting geometry and WLL are compatible with your anchor points.

Why choose a 4-inch ratchet over a 2-inch ratchet?

The choice between 4-inch and 2-inch assemblies depends on the load, cargo type, anchor point configuration, and applicable securement requirements — not the ratchet alone. 4-inch assemblies are commonly used in heavy-duty trucking and equipment transport where the load size, weight, or regulatory requirements call for 4-inch-rated securement systems. Consult applicable cargo-securement requirements and equipment manufacturer guidance for your specific application.

How should I maintain this ratchet?

Keep the mechanism clear of debris. Inspect before each use for cracks, distortion, corrosion, and damaged or missing components. Follow the manufacturer's service guidance for lubrication intervals. Remove from service any ratchet that does not function correctly, shows visible damage, or whose WLL marking cannot be read.
