S-Hook for Tarp Straps — Replacement Rubber Tarp Strap S-Hooks | 10 Pack

INCLUDED: Ten (10) — Replacement Rubber Tarp Strap S-Hooks

ABOUT: This 10-pack of replacement S-hooks fits rubber tarp straps of any length, letting you re-hook a strap after the original hook wears out or bends rather than replacing the whole strap.

Key Features

  • Replacement S-hooks for use on rubber tarp straps, all lengths
  • QTY: 10 pack
  • Tarp straps secure the tarp to the trailer; tarp straps are not legal as load securement, and drivers can be ticketed for using a tarp strap as a primary tie-down

Eye protection required: ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 rated eye protection is recommended whenever you're stretching or releasing rubber tarp straps, since a strap or hook can snap back under tension.

Tarps are heavy and awkward to handle — choose the right tarp for the job and use mechanical aids where possible. When moving a tarp by hand, keep your back straight, pull with your hands at about waist height, and avoid twisting or pulling down with your arms overhead. Watch for surface winds or gusts that could catch the tarp.

To remove a tarp, loosen it by fanning air underneath, then pull it off using your arms, legs, and body weight — watch for unstable loads underneath. Lay the tarp on a clean, flat area and check for holes or damage before folding it.

EPDM vs. Natural Rubber Tarp Straps

Rubber tarp straps are made from either EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) or natural rubber, and the two hold up differently on the road:

  • EPDM is a chemically-derived polymer with excellent resistance to most materials except oil. It performs best in high-ozone, high-sunlight environments or around chemicals, steam, or temperature extremes.
  • Natural rubber is a tree-based polymer with a useful production life of up to 25 years. It works best in cold, wet environments or where high rebound, adhesion to metal, or abrasion resistance is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a rubber tarp strap as my primary tie-down?

No. Tarp straps secure a tarp to the trailer or load — they are not legal load securement, and using one as a primary tie-down can result in a citation.

What eye protection is recommended when handling tarp straps?

ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 rated eye protection is recommended any time you're stretching or releasing rubber tarp straps, since a strap or hook can snap back under tension.

Are these S-hooks sold separately from the rubber strap?

Yes — this is a 10-pack of replacement S-hooks only, for re-hooking worn or damaged rubber tarp straps you already own.
